On 21st February 2014, BEML, the only Public Sector to manufacture metro cars in India, announced that it has successfully rolled out its 136th Metro Car. The same will be for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRCL), for deployment in the RS6 Project of Delhi Metro.
At a function held at the Company’s Bangalore Complex today, Shri Mangu Singh, Managing Director of DMRCL has flagged off the 136th Intermediate Metro Car today in the presence of Shri P. Dwarakanath, CMD and Directors of BEML. Besides, Shri HS Anand, Director (RS) and Senior Executives of Delhi Metro, Executives and Employees of BEML were also present on the occasion. With the roll out of the said 136th Metro Car, BEML has fulfilled all the contractual obligations and supplied the entire lot of consignment on time.
BEML had bagged an Order worth Rs.923.44 Crores from Delhi Metro in March 2011 for the supply of 136 Intermediate Cars for its prestigious RS-6 Project for replacing the existing 4-Car train sets to 6-Car train sets for enhancing passenger carrying capacity.
