FRANKFURT | MUMBAI, June 5, 2019: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS) a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, and Star Alliance, the global airline network, celebrated the 15thanniversary of their strategic partnership. To mark the occasion, Jeffrey Goh, CEO, Star Alliance and Alexander Stollberg, Director Technology & Operations, Star Alliance, visited TCS’ Agile Delivery Center in Chennai, India and interacted with TCS’ leaders and teams.

Several industry-first solutions built at this center by TCS, leveraging its contextual knowledge gained over the years, are helping Star Alliance drive digital innovation. Adoption of Agile methods in the design and development of these solutions has enabled the Alliance to achieve significant speed to market. Additionally, TCS has supported the transformation of the Alliance’s IT infrastructure by migrating it into a fully cloud-enabled environment, providing further agility and scalability.

The creative use of digital technologies and the smooth flow of information and analytics, tailored to each airline’s specific requirements, are resulting in a seamless experience for passengers, especially when connecting between member carriers on their journeys. An industry-first through check-in hub enables passengers to execute a through check-in across more than 110 airlines globally. The Star Alliance Baggage Hub allows member airlines to track a customer’s bag through every step of a multi-leg, multi-airline journey. By enabling end to end tracking of bags, the solution ensures better experience for passengers and repeat customers for airlines.

To enhance the frequent flyer experience, TCS has built a next generation availability platform, which allows frequent flyers to see available seats for mileage redemption, not only for the airline whose frequent flyer program they are enrolled for, but also for all other member carriers.

Jeffrey Goh, CEO, Star Alliance, said, “With mobile devices, today’s travellers are ‘always connected’ and expect services at their fingertips. We are shifting our strategic focus from membership growth to improving the seamless travel experience, especially for those customers who fly on multi-carrier journeys. Our partnership with TCS has accelerated our digital transformation and is leading to enhanced customer experience. The transformation is ongoing, and passengers can expect even smoother journeys – no matter which airline they’re using within the Star Alliance network.”

Pratik Pal, Global Head, Retail, CPG, Travel, Transportation & Hospitality, TCS, said, “As Star Alliance’s technology and digital partner for 15 years, we have watched with great pride as it grew to represent a quarter of the world’s scheduled airline services. These latest initiatives will further accelerate the digital transformation of the airline ecosystem and set new benchmarks in passenger experience, positioning the Alliance’s member airlines to succeed in a Business 4.0™ world.”
