MEXICO CITY, March 7, 2019: Tata Consultancy Services, (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS) a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, and Citibanamex, announced that they have started handing over the newly rebuilt schools that were damaged by the devastating earthquakes that hit Mexico in 2017.

TCS launched a campaign called ‘Fuerza México’ in 2017, inviting employees across the world to contribute in support of reconstruction efforts in impacted communities. Subsequently, in partnership with Compromiso Social Citibanamex, TCS announced a series of programs to help the rebuilding efforts in several earthquake-affected states in Mexico, including Chiapas, Puebla, and the State of Mexico.

The Rodulfo Figueroa Esquinca Middle School, located in the town of Cintalapa, Chiapas, was the first of the newly rebuilt schools to be inaugurated. Additionally, the program supported the Miguel Hidalgo Elementary School in Jolalpan, Puebla, and the Normal No. 4 Middle and High Schools, located in Nezahualcóyotl, the State of Mexico, with assistance from the BBVA Bancomer Foundation.

It is very important for us to be able to help those affected by the earthquakes that hit Mexico, which is why TCS, as a global company, has supported this outstanding program. Our associates from around the world have demonstrated their commitment to supporting Mexico,” commented Marcelo Wurmann, CEO, TCS Latin America.

Through the 1X1 program, we strengthened our role as the bank most committed to Mexico, by boosting the recovery of communities affected by natural disasters and promoting the reconstruction of housing and infrastructure, as well as economic reactivation. The delivery of this school excites and motivates us, since it reflects the permanent commitment with the society of Chiapas, as well as the transparency in the destination of the resources,” said Rodrigo Zorrilla, General Director, Citibanamex.

It is a source of great pride for us to see our employees join forces to support a cause. The country has gone through some difficult times since the catastrophe, but such acts of solidarity have helped us get back on our feet. At TCS, we are committed to promoting the well-being, education and development of our talented young people, and the best way to reflect this commitment is by rebuilding educational institutions,” concluded Novonil Bhattacharya, Human Resources Director, TCS Latin America.
